Creamy Tahini Gravy

This plant-based gravy comes together quickly and is reminiscent of a southern white gravy -- perfect for mashed potatoes, potato wedges, biscuits and gravy, roasted chicken and more!

Yield: 3 1/2 cups

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tbsp butter or olive oil

  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour

  • ⅓ cup Nuts to You Tahini

  • 3 cups vegetable stock

  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp dried thyme

  • Black pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a stock pot, melt butter on medium high heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute while flour cooks.

  2. Add tahini and continue to whisk, gradually adding stock. Keep whisking to avoid lumps until the mixture is bubbling and has thickened, about 3 minutes.

  3. Add soy sauce, nutritional yeast and seasonings. Taste and adjust to your liking.

  4. Keep leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat to serve.
